MUSEUMS IN WASHINGTON D.C.

Today we went to Washinghton D.C, the capital, to visit the Smithsonian museums. We went to the Air and Space museum and the Indian Ameriacan museum. We saw many large planes and spaceships at the air and space. Our favorite part was when we got to go into a spaceship. Also, at the Indian  American museum we saw traditional indian clothes that were very pretty. We then walked around and got lunch at Mc Donald's.
In the afternoon, we stayed at school while our partners were rehearsing for an audition. Then, we went to Raquel's partner's house and stayed for a time where we enjoyed a lot talking, explaining jokes to each other, jumping on the mat and of course eating pizza all together.

BALTIMORE: NATIONAL AQUARIUM

Today all of the exchange have gone to the Baltimore Aquarium with the American people. First we saw all the aquarium with those big sharks, then we went to see the coloured fishes and the dolphins.
Also we saw jelly fishes and some of us (included me) touched them! The texture was so gelatin and weird, but it was very exciting!
At the end we had a walk in the aquarium’s shop.

When the aquarium visit was finished all of us went to a Mexican fast food restaurant and we ate burritos.

Then we got on the school bus again and returned to the school. Some of the girls went to poms practise of our partners and we enjoyed a lot their performance Bécquer. They can jump very high and the coordination and the rhythm were extraordinary!

A few hours later all of the persons in the exchange (included Conxita and Dani) went to a theatre to see a Christmas play called Elf. The actors sang and danced very well. The best part for me was the tap number, and I loved the play because the story was very beautiful and cute!

WASHINGTON D.C. MONUMENTS

Today we went on a school bus to Washington DC to visit some famous monuments. First, we saw the Arlington Cemetery, we learned that its tombs hold many soldiers who passed away, also that it is very big but they are running out of space and will need to expand in the future. After that we visited the tomb of the unknown soldier, which was looked after by a guard. Next we went to the Jefferson monument and took many pictures. The last monument we saw was the Lincoln monument it was very huge. Then we went to see the Korean Memorial and, the last activity we did in DC was getting lunch at Union  train station. The whole day was extremely fun and we took so many good pictures. After DC, most of us went to the mall and did a lot of shopping. On the way home, Abril’s partner accidentally drove the wrong way and we ended up an hour away in Virginia!! It was very funny and we are all enjoying being here in the US very much.

FIRST DAY AT SCHOOL

Jet lag is still affecting us. Waking up at 5 and being sleepy all day is very strange! Even so we still don’t believe we are here. Today we have attended our partners' classes so we have seen most part of the school too, it’s huge!

Breaks between classes are chaotic, students run all over the corridors to get to their next class. I assisted to econ, literature, sports and spanish class today. Lunch time was funny, we made a little tour around the school and then we had a Thanksgiving lunch at the cafeteria.

Our school day has finished at 2.45 p.m. All of the exchanges have done different activities. In my case, my exchange partner, Kate,  has had lacrosse practices so I‘ve been to another exchange’s house waiting for her. We have had a really different day and for sure we’ve loved it! Here are some photos:

FIRST DAY WITH FAMILIES

Today it has been the first full day of our trip to the USA.
Some of us (including me) were already awake at 6-7 am because of the time difference and the jet lag. In my case, I waited until it was 9:30 am and took a shower. I wasn't feeling really hungry, and luckily my American family took me to have a brunch (breakfast + lunch, very American) at a restaurant.
Then we met some of the students and their exchange partners and we all went to a place where there were sculptures made completely of ice and even an ice slide !! We had to wear extra jackets because it was REALLY cold there.
Then, the group spilled, and after taking some photos of the views we went shopping to an outlet. It was a really cool day, now we just have to prepare ourselves for the first day of school. Kind of!

25th November, Maryland

Today was amazing, it was our first whole day here.

After having breakfast my partner and her family took me to the church to go to mass. It was so interesting even though I’m not so religious, just because I found it so different to Spanish masses.
Then we went to my partner’s best friend's house to take her and Raquel with the rest of the exchange group to an Ice room. It was really nice. Later we also met in Abril’s partner's house and we had lunch. I’m impressed because the food here is delicious!
In the evening Raquel, Abril, me and our partners went shopping and it was funny to know them better, they are so crazy and I love that.

I’m very happy because today my partner and I got closer. Maybe the best moment today has been in Naome’s car. She was playing songs we all knew and we where singing along all together!

LEAVING BARCELONA ACROSS THE ATLANTIC

The day has arrived, I still don’t believe it. After a long flight, too long for me, despite being a patient person I can say that I’ll be flying to the Estates. Our trip started at Prat airport at 8.00am. How early to be Saturday! don’t you agree? I could have slept more instead of having woken up that early, however, wit as worth it, for sure.

The first plane we took, had a small screen in order to watch some series or play some video games to make the flight more enjoyable, if this is the accurate word to describe a ten hours boring situation. To tell you the truth, most of my mates spent such a long time sleeping or listening to some music. During the flight the hostess gave us a kind of food that at first sight was not very tasty, nevertheless in the end it was not that bad.

The second flight was better than the first one, just because I had time to stretch the legs just a bit. We took the plane at Newark airport, near New Jersey, and we flew to Maryland where our partners were waiting for us. What a warm situation! It was very sweet. They all seemed to be very friendly and now I can say that they are. Afterwards, we all went to Charlotte’s house. We took advantage of being all together to meet one another better and we kept playing and laughing.

Finally, each one of us went to their partners’ houses. As I said before, undoubtedly, my fellow classmates were in shock with the bedroom and the house facilities, as all is so huge in the States!
